Apple Digital Masters is an Apple initiative launched after the release of its new generation of AAC encoding tools that accept hi-resolution PCM sources.Apple Digital Masters are optional, Apple Music and other digital distributors will accept Standard Digital Masters. More recently, Steve has been mastering music for Paul Kelly, Ocean Alley, Megan Washington, Pierce Brothers, The Bamboos, Casey Barnes, Winterbourne, Bad//Dreems, Alex the Astronaut, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, WHARVES, Charlie Collins and the 3x Emmy Award winning soundtrack for animated children’s TV series Beat Bugs 2.īefore joining Studios 301 in 1991, Steve worked for the recording department of CBS Records (later becoming Sony Music), where he cut vinyl for the Australian releases of artists such as Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, Frank Zappa, Fleetwood Mac, The Cure, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Joy Division and Faith No More. His work has reached multi-platinum sales, received numerous ARIA and Golden Guitar Awards, and has been shortlisted for an Oscar nomination.

Moreover Steve remains one of the few engineers working today who can faithfully master specifically for the vinyl medium. His love of analogue equipment and enormous collection of outboard processing give his work a depth and space unachievable in the digital domain.
